About Us

Our Mission

Auntie Umm's Tiny Paws & Claws exists to make sure no animal, and no person who loves one, has to face an uncertain future alone.

We began this work to combat the growing feral cat population in our community, offering spay/neuter, vaccines, and vet checks at no cost or low cost — because prevention is the most compassionate, lasting solution we can offer.

That mission grew as we saw a need we couldn't ignore. As a senior ourselves, we understand what it means to lose a lifelong partner — and how often, in that grief, a pet becomes someone's steadiest companion. Too many seniors face impossible choices: the vet bills they can't afford, the vaccines they have to skip, the heartbreak of leaving a pet behind when moving into assisted living. We're here so that love for a pet is never limited by what a senior can pay. We offer low-cost care to keep seniors and their pets together, and when the time comes to say goodbye, we help with cremation costs so that loss doesn't become a financial crisis on top of a personal one.

We extend that same promise to birds, who often outlive the people who raised them by twenty, thirty years — and who are too easily forgotten in an emergency. Through our pre-registration program, an owner can arrange in advance for us to safely care for their bird during a hospital stay, and to take that bird into our care if the worst happens and no family is ready yet. We believe in putting that plan in place before it's needed — because life is unpredictable, but the animals we love shouldn't have to bear the cost of that unpredictability.

Whether it's preventing suffering before it starts, keeping a senior and their companion together a little longer, or making sure a bird is never left behind — our mission is the same: to be the steady hand animals and the people who love them can count on.
